Years ago my friends who owned the local liquor store asked me to build some custom planter boxes for their storefront. I liked them so much that I thought I’d build a smaller version for our back deck. These planters boxes are a perfect accent for the deck, porch, or patio.

Materials & Construction:
This project starts by building a box out of 1/2” thick plywood, then framing the box with 2” pine and molding. The box is joined together with simple butt joints, that are glued and nailed together. The frame overlaps the butt joints creating strength and stability. The molding adds a classic aesthetic to the box. Leaving the molding off will create a contemporary and modern style.
